Jebel Shams
MOOD: NATURE
BUDGET: $
Visit Oman’s highest mountain Jebel Shams (3075 meters) at daybreak. Dotted with juniper trees, the view is made more spectacular by the contrast of adjacent “Grand Canyon” Wadi Ghul, cracking abruptly into 1km drops. Bring hiking shoes and breakfast and enjoy the view.
Afterwards, head to the Al Hoota Caves at its base. The labyrinth of underground caves is the world’s second longest (5 km). The site spooks with transparent fish swimming in the lake and bats dangling overhead.
