Shiraz

Known as the best Persian restaurant in Muscat, Shiraz at the Crowne Plaza Hotel is both a business diner’s mainstay and a view to remember (balcony at sunset overlooking the hotel’s private bay). Prices are low-moderate, perhaps skewed by the fact that wine is only legally served in hotels and a few restaurants in Oman and the prices at Shiraz aren’t terrible. Hospitality is gracious and accommodating, dietary restrictions are dutifully noted, service with a smile. Food is classic Iranian: saffron rice with grilled meats like minced Kubideh skewers and Morg (chicken breast). Shiraz is consistent: flavorful, tasty food; upscale dining room with Moorish touches; friendly-ish on the wallet, even with bottle service. It has the formula down and does it well.
