Amouage Factory

Internationally-renown fragrance house Amouage hosts free guided tours of their factory almost every day of the week. The new factory is in a beautiful modern two-story building that houses a visitor’s center, bottling factory and a gift shop. Visiting is a cheap and chic afternoon to learn about perfume manufacturing. The friendly guide gives a history of perfume, defining top and base notes while you take in the scents. Amouage uses over 120 natural ingredients: woodsey, mysterious silver frankincense – native to Oman – is a favorite. Almost everything is done with pride by hand: the person who packages the bottle drops a small thank you note in each. Up to 10,000 bottles are produced per week. The last stop is the gift shop where you discover a wide range of fragrances, skincare and surprises like Amouage-branded Italian leather goods. Set up like a museum with no price list, there is no pressure to buy.
