Chedi Muscat

East-meets-West proves an intoxicating blend of mystery, beauty and serenity at the five star Chedi Muscat. Located in the heart of Al Ghubrah, 10 minutes from Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Muscat Grand Mall (if you need some culture, or some supplies). Flanked behind by majestic Al Hajar Mountains and opening up to 370 meters of private Boushar beach on the Gulf of Oman, it is a resort geographically city-center but mindset miles away from city-stress. Luxurious, sure – and, some would argue, prices to match – but it doesn’t take inspiration from neighbor Dubai. Omani flourishes are tempered with an almost Japanese zen: minimalist, straight-lines provide most of the drama, its repetition striking, be it in the simple white canopies shielding the pool from the sun or the abundance of pillars and beams functionally providing support. Colors are clean and neutral, white is a favorite, especially in guest rooms and outer walls. This provides a sharp contrast to the lush gardens and generous pools on its manicured 20 acres. Muscat can get stifling hot, but it never seems to feel that way at the Chedi.

ROOMS
Clean and modern decor visually enlarge rooms starting at 33 square meters. Open bathrooms with rainforest showers and Acqua di Parma toiletries further provide a spa-like getaway. Views are either of the garden, mountain or the sea. Some rooms have balconies and the suites have terraces that lead to the beach or pools. Extras are not extras at the Chedi: breakfast, wifi, fruit basket, Nespresso, and minibar (minus hard liquor) are all included.
