Muscat isn’t at a loss for 5 star hotels, all expensive and scrubbed-clean of local flair. Naseem Hotel may lack the frills of its competitors, but its location (along the Mutrah Corniche, close to the Souk) is superb and priced at a fraction. While the decor is basic, the room is clean and functionally-appointed. Similarly, amenities are basic but satisfactory. Naseem feels a bit more authentic: you are never overly-indulged, but the service is friendly. Better yet, you wake up with the bustle of the city around you, richly rewarded with a glimpse into the real-world happenings of local Omanis.
