La Caféothèque
MOOD: BOHO, CASUAL, COFFEE
BUDGET: $
Guatemalan Gloria Montenegro takes coffee very seriously. Despite Paris’s social life centering around its cafés, the quality of coffee has always been weak. In 2001, Montenegro took it upon herself to educate the city, offering samples of single estate brews to bistros, restaurants and locals to cultivate an appreciation and demand. Intimate and endearing La Caféothèque opened in 2007 in the heart of Paris (in the Marais, near the Seine and the two islands) centering its newfound café culture in its multipurpose spaces: regular art exhibits, poetry readings, discussions – all to the careful brew of quality, single-bean cups roasted and grinded onsite. A small shop allows you to enjoy your favorite flavors – from all over the world: Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Colombia, Malawi, etc. – at home.
